Arlington Park

The history of Arlington International spans more than 80 years of struggles and successes. Described as “the most beautiful track in America”, Arlington began Thoroughbred racing on October 13, 1927, when more than 20,000 fans braved the cold weather to celebrate the event in high style. Jockey Joe Bollero guided Luxembourg to victory in the first race ever at Arlington.

O’Hare International Airport

O’Hare was the busiest airport in the world by the number of takeoffs and landings in 2014, ahead of Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport, which held the title from 2005 to 2013; however, it lost that title back to Atlanta a year later. Until 1998, O’Hare was also the world’s busiest airport by the number of passengers; it was surpassed mainly due to limits the federal government imposed on the airport to reduce flight delays. As of 2016, O’Hare is the sixth-busiest airport in the world by passenger traffic, the third-busiest in the United States, and the busiest in the Midwest.

Lynfred Winery

Lynfred Winery is a winery in Roselle, Illinois. It is the oldest continually operated winery in Illinois.Lynfred was founded on October 14, 1979, by Fred and Lynn Koehler. They started in a restored 1912 house in Roselle, Illinois, and began selling wine produced from California grapes out of the cellar in 1975. In 1985, their 1983 Chardonnay was awarded “Double Gold” at the National Restaurant Show in Chicago and won an award at the National Wine Competition for Chardonnays in Reno, Nevada.

Schaumburg Boomers Baseball Stadium

Schaumburg Boomers Stadium often referred to simply as Boomers Stadium is a stadium in Schaumburg, Illinois, formerly known as Alexian Field. It is now home to the Schaumburg Boomers of the Frontier League which began play in May 2012 and captured the first-ever professional baseball championship for Schaumburg in 2013. It is primarily used for baseball, and was the home field of the Schaumburg Flyers baseball team from 1999 through 2010 before the Boomers resurrected the facility for pro baseball in 2012.

The history of Walmart, an American discount department store chain, began in 1950 when businessman Sam Walton purchased a store from Luther E. Harrison in Bentonville, Arkansas, and opened Walton’s 5 & 10.The Walmart chain proper was founded in 1962 with a single store in Bentonville, expanding outside Arkansas by 1968 and throughout the rest of the Southern United States by the 1980s, ultimately operating a store in every state of the United States, plus its first stores in Canada, by 1995.
